RE.CK

Recyclable. Universal. Future-Proof.

Construction Debris – An Underrated Resourcerce

The term construction debris often evokes negative associations: remnants of buildings after demolition, destruction, or natural disasters – in short, waste. But this is precisely where we see an opportunity. What might appear as trash at first glance holds immense potential as a valuable resource for building new structures..

Construction debris is available in large quantities – not only within the construction industry but also in regions affected by earthquakes, floods, or wars. Its global availability makes it an ideal raw material for sustainable building concepts.

RE.CK – A Modular Building Block Made of Recycled Materials

Building on this realization, we developed our second construction system: the RE.CK. Composed of up to 98% recycled construction debris and ash as a binding agent, with the remaining 2% being water, RE.CK offers a sustainable alternative to conventional building materials.

The RE.CK is being developed as an Open Innovation Project, inviting experts and enthusiasts to contribute to its development and enhancement.

Construction Under Extreme Conditions

One of RE.CK’s key advantages is its simple manufacturing process – even under extreme conditions with minimal resources. Its production does not require cement, reinforcement, or mortar. Instead, ash – a nearly unlimited material available worldwide – serves as the binding agent.

Six Types, One Wall System

Through intensive development, we have designed six different RE.CK module types that can be flexibly combined.

These modules offer a stable, sustainable, and adaptable solution for housing and infrastructure projects, particularly in resource-scarce environments requiring quick solutions.

Applications of RE.CK

The possibilities are limitless. RE.CK demonstrates that sustainable construction is not only feasible but also scalable. Our mission is to rethink resources and close material cycles – for a world where waste creates new opportunities.

Learn More About Our Principles

“We’ve grown accustomed to images of destruction – entire buildings, even whole neighborhoods.
My vision is to redefine these images with scenes of (re)building. RE.CK stands for maximum efficiency with minimal resource use – a building block for hope, transformation, and a sustainable future.”

Alfons Schwiderski, Developer of RE.CK

The following sketches illustrate how a new multi-family building constructed with RE.CK blocks could look.

Have Questions About RE.CK? Find answers to common questions below, or feel free to email us for more details!

How environmentally-friendly is RE.CK?

The RE.CK is composed of 98% recycled materials, including construction debris and ash from waste incineration or steel production. Apart from water, no primary raw materials are used in its production. This makes RE.CK an exceptionally resource-efficient and sustainable building material, transforming waste into a valuable resource.

What makes RE.CK unique?

RE.CK stands out for its minimalist, resource-saving design and ease of use. The blocks are laid dry, meaning no mortar is required, allowing for a faster and more flexible construction process.

This system enables RE.CK to be easily installed by semi-skilled labor under professional supervision.

Another advantage is the on-site production capability, particularly in crisis regions, with minimal machinery requirements. The necessary equipment – such as debris crushers and hydraulic presses – is affordable and widely available globally. This ensures independent and local production.

Can I build a building with RE.CK as a non-professional?

RE.CK is based on the principles of simple construction, making it accessible even to non-professionals. The modular system allows inexperienced individuals to construct the walls of a building.

However, for finishing tasks – such as roof structures, facade cladding, interior finishing, and installations – professional assistance is usually necessary.

Nevertheless, the modular construction process significantly reduces time and costs compared to traditional building methods.

Can RE.CK be used for any type of building?

Yes, RE.CK offers high flexibility and is suitable for a wide range of construction projects – from simple residential houses to multi-story buildings.

Is RE.CK stable and safe?

RE.CK has been developed based on proven architectural and structural principles. The system is backed by the extensive experience of our team, which has successfully implemented.

This ensures that RE.CK delivers not only stability and safety but also a sustainable and future-oriented building solution.
